BUILDING HOUSES
TIJUANA, MEXICO
Engineering Without Borders at UC Irvine organizes trips to Tijuana, Mexico, collaborating with groups like UCLA’s chapter and the Orange County EWB chapter to build houses for families. These efforts address the severe housing insecurity many people face in Mexico due to a lack of access to affordable, stable housing. Through this partnership and commitment to hands-on service, EWB at UCI contributes to improving living conditions, providing essential shelter, and making a meaningful difference in these communities.
These trips occur roughly once per academic quarter, offering students a chance to volunteer to both build the houses and build connections to the groups in collaboration and the locals.
